Review: Everyday Eyeshadow Palette

Review: Everyday Eyeshadow Palette

By Hannah Padilla May 21, 2018

Mented Cosmetics is an underrated, yet innovative and stunning brand that I absolutely adore. They create makeup (especially nude lipsticks) BY and FOR women of color, and I have kindly received some of their lipsticks and lip glosses. So when I found out that they released an eyeshadow palette, I simply had to get it. Lucky me that I bought it weeks ago, because it’s now sold out (it's currently back in stock!).

Here is the description of the palette:

Our Everyday Eyeshadow palette was designed with your melanin in mind. Each shade packs enough pigment to envelop your eye lids in the gorgeous nude and neutral shades you love. The sophisticated 9-shade collection has exactly the right colors to take you from your morning meeting to post-work drinks and everything in between. Trust us, this is truly a palette you’ll love wearing every day.

Vegan, non-toxic, paraben-free, and cruelty-free.

When I opened the box, to scope out the palette, I was shocked with how HUGE it was! The dimensions of the palette itself are 5.75″ x 5.75″(that’s 14.7 cm for my fellow non-US bloggers). That doesn’t sound too big, it’s bigger than my hand. There is no information about the amount of product in each shade (I checked the palette and the website), but I can imagine that the shades will last me a while. Best of all? It is only $28 for 9 shades, yet has the quality of shades rivaling my Urban Decay and Too Faced palettes.

The shades here are SO rich, buttery and pigmented. In fact, you have to be careful with it! As you can see, I accidentally knicked the shade Bae-ge (the top left shade). With how pigmented and fragile it is, you’ve got keep it safe.

I love the amount of plums and browns in this palette. It reminds me of the Too Faced Original Chocolate Bar. There are 7 mattes and 2 shimmers. My only gripe is how the shade names are not implanted into the palette, but are on a separate piece of cardboard. I am thinking of getting small labels to write the shade names and tack it on there.

Here are the shade names:

Bae-ge: matte light warm peachy beige
Light Bright: matte medium warm peach
First Date: shimmer gold
Tandemonium: matte medium warm brown
Upside Brown: matte medium chocolate brown
Second Date: shimmer champagne brown
Redbone: matte terracotta red
Queen Sugar: matte deep plum
Brown Out: matte dark chocolate brown

Yes, while it’s an everyday palette, you can add drama for nights out with the deeper shades.

I also purchased their lip gloss in “Berry Me” because I lost the original one (which I received as one of their PR packages). I was heartbroken, since that shade was my favorite among all 4 lip glosses. But I’m excited to have it again in my arsenal!
