The company recently announced a new round of $3 million in series seed from lead investor CircleUp Growth Partners. "This time around we pitched to far fewer [venture capitalists] – about 30 in total – and this time we were the ones saying no," co-founder, KJ Miller said to Forbes.
Founded by KJ Miller and Amanda E. Johnson, two Black women, the makeup brand was born out of the frustration they experienced not being able to find a nude lipstick that truly matched their skin tone.
